Home Is Where The Heart Is
2018 is over and many of us are still looking for “home”. For some, home is a place where they grew up. For others, it is where they have found friends and started building a life for themselves. For us, it is a place where you can relax without having too much or too little furniture. While having a chaotic day at work, we hope that you will enjoy reading our blog.
Last year, over 300 visitors have come to our open homes with their family and friends. Many have shared personal stories that were emotional and moving. We are grateful for your questions, comments, and suggestions. At the end of 2018, we were talking about starting our blog about home decor. A home that does not only reflect our well-being and happiness but a space of which you could be proud of regardless of prices and trends.
If you are buying/ selling or just looking to improve your living space, our blog is the place to be! NOW TRENDING: PALE GOLD, RUSTIC, AND SHEARLING!
People spend hours looking to stage their homes with unique pieces. One trend stood out the most. Shearling. Yes, you heard right. If some of you are unsure what shearling mean, shearling is a skin from a sheep or lamb that has been tanned and dressed in the wool left on. Now you can have it on your chair, sofa, pillows, and much more. And we have mixed feelings about it.
Can there be too much shearling? Most likely not, since designers use shearling on almost all pieces of furniture imaginable. But is it practical? As any animal skins, while untreated could cause serious discoloration to a piece. While soap will only make worse. Unless you are single without pets and children, it makes this type of furniture literally unusable. What do you think?
If you are still considering shearling, make sure that you pick the right kind. After our extensive research, it became clear that there are several different kinds. One lays flat and allows the lines to show, as opposed to cheap looking sheepskin that feels like a tough mattress. Cleaner lines allow you to sit much more comfortably, instead of elevated 1-3 inches off the piece. Plus, it also a lot more durable.
Of course, it looks cute but has zero practicality. If you are seriously considering buying one, do not intend on using it. Place it in your closet or a bedroom, somewhere it won’t be overused but sure it is nice to look at especially during the coldest season.
